Sierra Edwards โ11 chose Shenandoah because she loved the family atmosphere on campus and being a part of the womenโs basketball team. โChoosing SU is choosing a lifelong connection,โ said Edwards. โI love that I am still in contact with college friends, professors and staff members.โ
Some of Edwardsโ fondest memories of the university are playing basketball with her friends, the annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festivalยฎ and graduation. Edwards is still active in the Shenandoah community as a member of the หฤปขำฐสำ Black Alumni Network, a newly formed alumni group that came together in 2020.
Edwards is a math teacher for in Fairfax, Virginia. In this position, she teaches three courses to students with disabilities, which includes Geometry, Algebra 2 and Algebra Functions & Data Analysis. The most rewarding part of Edwardsโ career is teaching young adults how to be successful in our society.
Edwardsโ Shenandoah education has prepared her and helped her become successful in her career. โSU taught me how to be multidimensional and strive for other careers within education.โ said Edwards.
Edwardsโ advice to students is: โKeep reading! There is always room to grow and learn.โ
