Allison Jones β17 knew her career field in public health would require a lot of nursing classes, so she chose to attend ΛΔ»’Σ°ΚΣ because of the Eleanor Wade Custer School of Nursing. βItβs an amazing, small school that helps everyone feel like family,β said Jones.
Jonesβ fondest memories of the university are football games, basketball games, working in the Brandt Student Center and spending time with her friends. She is still active in the Shenandoah community as a member of the ΛΔ»’Σ°ΚΣ Black Alumni Network, a newly formed alumni group that came together in 2020.
Jones is a program manager at US Wellness in Germantown, Maryland. With the COVID-19 pandemic, she is managing her clients, scheduling and arranging COVID-19 testing, performing employee digital symptom monitoring and arranging temperature testing events. Prior to her current position, she served as a program specialist for a large pharmaceutical company.
The most rewarding part of Jonesβ career is being able to oversee the events that she has planned for her clients, and most recently helping prevent the spread of COVID-19 within her clientβs companies.
Jones is also the founder of skincare company, , which she started after suffering from dry skin as well as keratosis pilaris. She has been making her own products for these issues and decided to share them with others.
Jones believes that her Shenandoah education prepared her for her career by teaching her about population health and public health, and providing an abundance of wellness knowledge that she uses on a daily basis.
Jones likes to remind students that they βdo not need a masters to succeed, but it will certainly help.β
